Jamaica man, children murdered by bullets, fire

(Jamaica Observer) The Morant Bay Police are this morning trying to piece together clues that can aid their investigations into two incidents, which they believe are connected, in which a man and his two children were killed and their mother injured in their community of Phillipsfield, Yallahs, St Thomas.

Dead are 48-year-old farmer, Courtney Brown and his two children, 9-year-old Rod Brown and 10-year-old Matadio Brown.

The Yallahs Police report that about 9:30 last night, Brown was travelling in his Townace motor vehicle when he was stopped along the roadway and approached by armed men who shot him. Some 15 minutes later, unknown assailant/s set fire to Brown’s house, which claimed the lives of young Rod and Matadio.

Both siblings were reportedly at home with their mother, when armed men opened gunfire at her, before setting the house ablaze. Rod and Matadio perished in the fire while their mother received multiple injuries and is now in hospital.

Brown was taken to the Kingston Public Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
