Simmons to replace Barath for Test matches in Bangladesh

(WICB) Chittagong, Bangladesh – The West Indies Cricket Board today announced that right-handed opener Lendl Simmons will replace fellow right-hander Adrian Barath in the squad for the Test Series in Bangladesh.

Barath, 21, suffered a hamstring injury during the first ODI last week and has not recovered to take place his place in the squad. He will remain with the squad in Bangladesh and continue his rehabilitation with physiotherapist CJ Clark.

The 26-year-old Simmons is in good form and won the award for the batsman with the most runs in the just concluded One-Day Series. He made 202 runs in two innings and the West Indies won the series 2-1.

The West Indies will play two Tests against Bangladesh. The first match bowls off on Friday in Chittagong. The West Indies squad for the three-match Test Series in India will be announced later this month.
