Hair stylist broke partner’s windows after break-up

-court hears

A hairdresser was on Thursday put on $50,000 bail after she denied charges that she damaged property when her common law spouse ended their relationship.

Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry heard that on October 16, Nicola Bacchus, 26, unlawfully damaged three pairs of awning windows and a set of louver windows, valued $68,050. Bacchus pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The prosecution said that on the day in question, Bacchus’ partner told her that he wanted to end their relationship and asked her to move out. As a result, the woman allegedly tried to throw hot water on him but he escaped.

She then allegedly broke the windows. The matter was reported and Bacchus reportedly said she would pay for the damages incurred, but failed to do so.

In addition to bail, Bacchus was put on a bond to keep the peace pending the determination of the matter. The case will be called again on Monday.
