$113M contract cleared for synthetic track and field facility

A $113.05M contract for the construction of a synthetic track and field facility at the Leonora Community Centre Ground, in Region Three, is among five cleared by Cabinet on Tuesday.

Head of the Presidential Secretariat Dr Roger Luncheon said the other contracts were for developments in the agriculture, finance and justice sectors.

A Government Information Agency (GINA) press release said Luncheon made the announcement at his post-Cabinet press briefing, where he said an $18.6M contract has been cleared in the agriculture sector for the construction of drainage and irrigation control structures at West Watooka in Region 10. In the finance sector a $47.89M contract has been cleared for the supply and delivery of computer equipment for the Guyana Revenue Authority. In addition, in the justice sector a contract valued $22.2M has been cleared for renovation of the chambers of the Director of Public Prosecutions and sub-offices. Also, in infrastructure, a $26.6M contract has been cleared for remedial works to be effected to a breach in the section of the river dam at Fort Ordinance in Region Six.
