The police say they are investigating an armed robbery that occurred at about 1930h. last night at Meten-Meer-Zorg, WCD, during which businessman Jaiprakash Basdeo,
35 years, was attacked and robbed by two men who were armed with a handgun and a knife.
Police say that investigations revealed that Basdeo was in the Saver’s Choice Store when the perpetrators entered and held him up. They took away his personal jewellery valued at $800,000.00, $600.00 US, $320,000.00, two computers and a number of cell phones and escaped in a waiting motor car.
The police say they responded promptly to the report received and intercepted a motor car at Vergenoegen, EBE, suspected to be the getaway vehicle, and arrested the driver. He is in police custody assisting with the investigations.
