France seen as opening up new doors for Suriname

(De Ware Tijd) PARIS – “Suriname can be proud of this. The relations between Suriname and France are strategic and important. That means development and I am glad about that.” Professional soccer player Clarence Seedorf said this to DWT at the opening of Suriname’s Embassy in France yesterday. He was one of the special guests at an event at Hotel Novotel in Paris to mark the opening of Suriname’s Embassy. Seedorf was invited especially for the launch of the Caribbean regional sports academy project, but that part of the program was scrapped from the program due to illness of Foreign Affairs Minister Winston Lackin. The Embassy was officially opened by Minister Jim Hok, ad interim Minister of Foreign Affairs and Suriname’s Ambassador in France Harvey Naarendorp. Master of ceremonies was the well-known entertainer Jörgen Raymann.
