His attorney Peter Hugh made an application for his client to receive a psychiatric evaluation to determine if he is fit to stand trial.

The application was granted and Blanchard will make his next court appearance on December 5.

On October 11, the three children were asleep and Blanchard, their father, allegedly armed himself with two knives and stabbed to death Belika Blanchard and Daniel Blanchard. In the process the defendant also allegedly stabbed Joy Blanchard, who was a patient at the Georgetown Public Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit, where she succumbed a few days later.
