Fifteen-year-old Rashana Alexander, who went missing two Sundays ago, has once again made contact with her boyfriend, claiming that she has indeed been kidnapped, but her family is still skeptical.
According to the girl’s relatives, on Sunday they were informed by her boyfriend [who has been released from police custody] that he received a call from Rashana. The girl reportedly told her boyfriend that she has been kidnapped and is “in a house somewhere,” but she doesn’t know the exact location. She also informed her boyfriend that the person holding her hostage is a man, who only takes her outside at nights to bathe. When questioned on how she was able to place the call, the girl reportedly stated that “he gone out somewhere and lef he phone so I call”.
However, what has the family doubtful is the fact that the number registered on the boyfriend’s phone is Rashana’s, and they are therefore puzzled as to how she was using her own number on the “man’s phone”.
Rashana’s cousin Yusuf, whom the boyfriend had called following his conversation with her, told this newspaper that this latest update has been reported to the police as investigations continue.
Rashana left her Lot 421 School Street, Craig, East Bank Demerara home on Saturday to go to church, but never returned. Her cousin later received a call on Sunday from an unknown male, who told him that “if you want see back you sister you gotta pay $50,000”.
