CAL to stop carrying monkeys

(Barbados Nation) A British animal rights organization has been intensely lobbying airlines not to transport monkeys from Barbados and other countries for research purposes.

The British Union For the Abolition of Vivisection (BUAV) has so far got airlines such as British Airways, British Midland, United Airlines, Virgin Atlantic, Northwest Airlines, Qantas, South African Airways, American Airlines, Delta Airlines, Eva Air, China Airlines, Monarch of the Air and Caribbean Airlines to stop transporting primates.

Monarch Of The Air and Caribbean Airlines, who in the past transported monkeys from Barbados, were the latest to take a stance after BUAV petitioned them earlier this year to stop the practice.

Air Canada appears to be one of the few airlines which have told the BUAV that it cannot refuse to transport monkeys.
