Vendor charged with having squibs

Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry yesterday granted a vendor $50,000 bail when he appeared in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court charged with having a number of squibs and other explosives in his possession.

The court heard that on October 26 Londro Castello of Tucville had in his possession a quantity of explosives; that is to say he had 33 crazy kings, 5 crazy robots, 22 mini bum bum and a quantity of squibs without permission. He pleaded not guilty to the charge.

On the said day, police ranks were conducting a campaign at Croal Street when they saw the defendant acting in a suspicious manner. They then conducted a search on his person and recovered the said items.

Castello was ordered to appear in court on January 9.
