Guyanese woman held in Antigua over drugs

A 36 year-old Guyanese woman has been remanded to prison in Antigua after she was caught attempting to smuggle seven pounds of cocaine into the island over the weekend.

According to the Antigua Observer, Lisa Natasha Nichols was on her way to Canada. She was intercepted by Officers of the Narcotics Division upon her arrival at the VC Bird International Airport on Saturday. The  drug was found strapped to her body, the report said.

She is now facing charges of possession of cocaine; possession with intent to transfer; attempting to export cocaine and drug trafficking, the report added.

The drugs carry an estimated street value of EC $189,000.00.
