The Private Sector Commission (PSC) today said that the Commissioner of Police, Henry Greene has assured the Commission that the Force is well prepared to deal with the pre-election, election and post-election period.
He gave the assurance when the Governance and Security Sub-Committee of the PSC met with the Commissioner and other Senior Officers of the Force on November 17, 2011.
A statement from the PSC said that for Election Day itself the Commissioner said that all 2,052 polling stations across the country would be supervised by the police and officers would escort Presiding Officers to GECOM at the end of the day.
“The private sector officials assured the Commissioner and his staff that they had confidence in the security forces to keep the peace during the period. The PSC also told the Commissioner and his Officers that they would be collaborating with the Electoral Assistance Bureau and would be in close contact with the political parties and the security forces during the period”, the statement added.
