T&T man, 82, dies, wife critical after dispute

(Trinidad Express) An altercation between an elderly couple who shared a 30-year relationship ended in one dead and one fighting for life at hospital.

Alladin Horsely, 82, died at the San Fernando General Hospital around 2.30 p.m. yesterday.

His wife Monica Maynard, 64, was warded in a critical condition at the Mt Hope Hospital.

Police said around 11 a.m. Horsely and Maynard had an argument at their Tabaquite home during which each sustained chop wounds.

Maynard was chopped on the face. She ran to neighbour’s home and was taken to the Chaguanas Health Facility and then transferred to Mt Hope.

Horsely, police said, went to a nearby house where he drank weedicide. He was found frothing at the mouth and was taken to the San Fernando General Hospital where he died three hours later.
