Three male Aishalton students found dead

Three male students of the Aishalton Secondary School have been found dead and President Donald Ramotar has dispatched a team to the area to investigate.

A statement from the Government Information Agency this afternoon said that Ramotar has urgently dispatched a team to probe the circumstances surrounding the deaths of the three students of the Rupununi village. The release said that the team comprised officials from the Ministries of Education and Amerindian Affairs.

The police this evening said theyare “investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of three male students whose decomposing bodies were found in a mining pit at Sandhills, Aishalton, at about 0900h yesterday…

“Investigations so far revealed that the two eleven-years-old and one twelve-years-old had left the dormitory of a school at Aishalton sometime on November 27, 2011, and after they had not returned a search was launched resulting in the bodies subsequently being found.”

The police added that no further information is available.
