Woman found dead in church yard remains unidentified

The body of the woman found at the back of the  Bedford Methodist Church, Camp Street last Wednesday, with what appeared to be a stab wound to the neck, remains unidentified at the Lyken Funeral Parlour.

When found, the woman was clad in a red top and black three quarter pants. There were also visible wounds to her jaw and wrist and her legs appeared to have blood stains on them.

Stabroek News was informed by a resident, who later gave police the same report, that it could have been a possible homicide since he recalled hearing a female screaming early Tuesday morning and then subsequently seeing a male jumping over the fence.

He had added that when he checked where the noise seemed to be coming from he saw “a red thing” but no movements and dismissed the occurrence. He said that he had also asked a nearby security guard if he too had heard sounds and was answered in the affirmative. The man also confirmed that he too had seen a male jumping the fence and running off.

Vendors discovered the body sometime around 6pm on Wednesday being suspicious  that the body remained in the exact “sleeplike” position  from the time they had brought goods for sale that morning to when they were awaiting transportation to return home that evening.
