Man accused of refusing to pay for burgers

A man, who allegedly ordered chicken burgers from the Jerries restaurant and bar but refused to pay, was yesterday placed on self bail at the Georgetown Magistrates’ court.

Gregory Blair was charged with simple larceny, after it was alleged that on December 12, at Georgetown, he stole two burgers valued $1200.

Blair, of lot 165 Charlotte Street, pleaded not guilty after the charge was read to him by the acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry.

Latoya Barnwell, the cashier on duty at the time, was also to be charged but she was not present at court and the magistrate ordered the prosecution to summon her.

Prosecutor Lionel Harvey said that on the day in question, Blair went to the snackette and ordered the burgers, however he refused to pay for it.

The matter will be called again on January 27.
