Kitty man had two grammes of cocaine in bag – court told

A man yesterday appeared before acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court where he pleaded not guilty to a drug trafficking charge.
Eon Martin of 157 Pike Street, Kitty, allegedly had in his possession two grammes of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.

In presenting the facts of the case, the prosecutor told the court that on January 15, police officers were on patrol in the Kitty railway line area when the defendant was seen.

Martin was stopped and searched during which he protested and began to resist. He then threw a plastic bag about 3 feet away which was retrieved by the police. A substance suspected to be cocaine was reportedly found in the bag.

The case was transferred to court 5 for fixture and report on January 23.
