The Associated Press says a magnitude 5.2 earthquake rattled islands this morning in the southern Caribbean causing alarm but no reports of damage.
AP said that Grenadian Prime Minister Tillman Thomas joined dozens of other people running from offices, homes and schools as the quake hit at 7:16 a.m. (7:16 a.m. EST; 1216 GMT) today. The quake was also felt in Trinidad, St. Lucia and St. Vincent.
The U.S. Geological Survey says the quake was centred about 103 miles below the surface. It occurred 55 miles north of Guiria, Venezuela; 60 miles South West of St George’s, Grenada and 70 miles North West of Port-of-Spain, Trinidad and Tobago.
