Man remanded on three charges of armed robbery

A young man was on Tuesday remanded to prison after appearing before Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton on three charges of robbery under arms, reportedly committed in Georgetown.

The first charge stated that Ryan Hescott on April 7, at Georgetown, being armed with a dangerous weapon, robbed Val Grant-Stuart of two pairs of bangles worth $60,000. The second charge read that on the same date he, being armed with a gun, robbed Rudy Bishop of a quantity of medication, jewellery, colognes and other items amounting to a total value of $1.8 million. The final charge against the defendant is that on April 1, at Georgetown, being armed with a gun, he robbed Godfrey Scipio of a wristwatch and other items amounting to a total value of $385,000. As the charges were all indictable, the defendant was not required to plead.

Hescott was then remanded to prison, and his matter adjourned until April 27.
