Man shot at No.56 Village during attack on overseas-based Guyanese

The police say they are investigating an armed robbery that occurred at about 0230h today at No. 56 Village, Corentyne, during which an overseas-based Guyanese couple was robbed by five men and a man shot in his shoulder.

Investigations have revealed that Andy Ramjit, 28 years, and Rovina Ramjit, 23 years, were with relatives having a party when the armed men entered and held them up. Krishnadat Pydanna, 47 years of Lesbeholden South, Black Bush Polder, resisted the men and was shot to his left shoulder. Three of the bandits were armed with guns and the others with cutlasses.

The perpetrators then took away a quantity of jewellery from the Ramjits and escaped. The Ramjits were assaulted by the men during the robbery.

Pydanna has been admitted a patient at the New Amsterdam Hospital while the Ramjits were treated and sent away.
