Accused of stealing TV and music set during break-in

A 41-year-old man accused of breaking into another’s house and stealing items totalling $159,000 was yesterday remanded to prison when he appeared before Magistrate Hazel Octave-Hamilton.

It is alleged that on August 19 at Georgetown, Eusi Duesbury broke and entered the dwelling house of Gwendolyn Duesbury and stole therein one plasma television and one plasma music set totaling $159,000.

The accused was not required to enter a plea to the indictable charge of break and enter and larceny when it was read to him at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.

No facts of what transpired on the day in question were presented to the court.

When asked if he wanted to make a bail application, Duesbury said yes but added that he had no money. The court then advised him that in the circumstances he should not proceed with the bail application.

The prosecution subsequently made a successful application for the accused to be remanded to prison.

His matter was transferred to Court One for October 28.
