The police say they are investigating an armed robbery that occurred at about 2030h on Tuesday at Rose Hall, Corentyne, Berbice, during which businesswoman Samantha John, 31 years of Swamp Section, Rose Hall, was attacked and robbed by two men, one of whom was armed with a firearm. The police said that her reputed husband Rajesh Kunananauth, 33 years, was shot and injured during the incident.
Police said that investigations revealed that John and Kunananauth were in their grocery shop, when the two perpetrators entered and held them at gunpoint. The men took away John’s jewellery and an undisclosed sum of cash and escaped.
During the robbery Kunananauth was shot to his left shoulder and has been admitted a patient at the New Amsterdam Hospital.
