Detective gives evidence as PI into Supreme Court fire continues

Detective Corporal Rodwell Sarrabo testified when the preliminary inquiry (PI) into the matter of setting fire to the Supreme Court for which Colin Jones, Randy Mars, Jafar Simpson, Basil Morgan and Anthony Watson  stand accused, continued on Wednesday in the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.

Sarrabo gave evidence against Morgan based on a statement the accused had made during investigations, when he appeared before acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry. The witness was then cross examined by attorney-at-law Nigel Hughes following a re-examination by Inspector Steven Telford.

The five defendants are accused of setting fire to the Supreme Court of Judicature on November 4, 2009. They were not required to plead to the indictable charge when it was read to them on December 2 last.

The PI continues on October 31 at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.

The defendants remain imprisoned.
