T&T teacher on sex charge denied bail

(Trinidad Express) A 42-year-old school teacher was denied bail yesterday when he appeared before a Sangre Grande magistrate charged with having sex with a 15-year-old girl.

The teacher, Robin Marin, of the Manzanilla West Secondary School, was allegedly caught with the girl on Tuesday afternoon around 3 p.m. in his car, which had been parked along the Manzanilla beach.

PCs Kerry Ramnarine and Ryan Seepersad of the Sangre Grande Police Station were on patrol at the time when they saw the parked car, police said.

The officers brought the couple to the Sangre Grande station.

The girl’s mother was contacted following which she was then taken to the Sangre Grande Hospital where in her mother’s presence she was examined by a doctor.

Marin was further questioned and later charged by PCs Kerry Ramnarine of the Sangre Grande CID and Ryan Seepersad with eight counts of sex with a minor.

Appearing before Magistrate Aden Stroude in the Sangre Grande court yesterday, Marin was denied bail until a proper trace could be done.

He will re-appear some time next week.
