The Regatta members of the Guyana Power Boat Racing Association hope to excite the crowds this Easter

Dear Editor,

We the Regatta power boat members and racers of the Guyana Power Boat Racing Association (GPBRA) are trying our best to uplift this great sport. Presently we have imported from the US 4 new twin hull full race boats. American power boat racing is affiliated to the General Association of International Sports Federation (GAISF) and UIM. Devnarine Persaud, Stephen Belle, Randy Belle and Selwyn Joseph are the drivers of the boats.

We are hoping to excite the crowds this Easter, but there are safety rules and regulations which must be in place first. There also needs to be a floating jetty or ramp to start the races. Our organisation is a member of UIM and has all the rule books. Should we be involved the Regatta will be exciting; we usually run Lake Mainstay Regatta every year and Lake Mainstay has high standards.

We would like the Bartica Regatta to be even better, so the ball is in the court, and let’s play.

These are the suggested events for Easter: 3 – up to 140 HP race; 3 – up to 200 HP race; 3 – up to 300 HP; 1- race of champions.

Yours faithfully,
Winston B Miller Snr
