Jagdeo and Trotman should be commended

Dear Editor,

I was extremly happy and pleased to read your article captioned ‘Jagdeo, Trotman apologize…’

I wish to commend Mr Jagdeo and Mr Trotman for their bold and brave conduct shown at the recent gospel concert where they openly apologized to each other, with the nation as witness. I do hope that the rest of our leaders follow the same example.

However, even more importantly, I have seen a side of our President that only God can bring out. Mr Jagdeo truly deserves all the accolades for stating” “I promise that we as a nation will recommit ourselves to the worship and love of God.” These are indeed very powerful and far-reaching words coming from the Head of State, and will start that turnaround process to bring Guyana to achieve its full potential.

I must admit that initially I thought that these were merely political words in an election year, but I don’t see any selfish gains, as Mr Jagdeo’s term expires in a few months.

It’s truly a warm and refreshing feeling to see our President, albeit in his final year, speaking some of the most powerful words to the nation along the lines of, love; God; brother; giving the nation back to God, etc. It was well said. May God continue to bless him and Guyana.

Yours faithfully,
Steve Nauth
