Franklin not in a position to make allegations against Ramsaroop

Dear Editor,

It has been reported that Mr Everard Franklin of GAP/ROAR has accused Peter Ramsaroop of “treachery,” etc, concerning the unity of JOPP; I would just like to state for the record, that I find it very strange that Mr Franklin would make such allegations when he, Mr Hardy and Mr Dev with the backing of the AFC, in the intensive deliberations leading up to the 2006 elections, were the ones who were responsible for the break-up of the Third Force platform which we were trying to put together. At no time did Mr Ramsaroop cause a problem or act in any way detrimental to that cause. Myself and the Unity Party were invited to join JOPP just after Christmas this last year, but after deliberations we decided that once Mr Franklin and GAP/ROAR were a part of this union, we would never be a part of it, based on the actions of Mr Franklin and his cohorts in 2006. I am surprised that the WPA would be involved in anything involving Mr Franklin et al, based on their experience in 2006, when they actually bore the brunt of the scheming tactics of Messrs Dev, Hardy and Franklin. As a matter of fact, I had to fight them for the WPA’s inclusion in that period as they were against inviting the WPA to our meetings.

Editor, I have stated before that Mr Ramsaroop might be considered a ‘political grasshopper,’ but in this case with the JOPP union, his grasshopping tendencies have served him well, because the joint opposition(JOPP) will never accomplish anything as long as Mr Franklin and GAP/ROAR are involved. Mr Franklin really speaks for no-one in this country and can bring absolutely nothing to the political equation facing the opposition, when, in fact, Messrs Ravi Dev and Paul Hardy are basically finished in the politics of Guyana.

They are the modern Balram Singh Rais who are slowly fading from the consciousness of the Guyanese voters after providing nothing much for our betterment.
Carry on, Peter!

Yours faithfully,
Cheddi (Joey) Jagan (Jr)
