Clive Lloyd should be cautious of any association with those purporting to be executive members of the GCB

Dear Editor,

I wish to respectfully issue a word of advice to my hero, Mr Clive Lloyd, to be very cautious of any association with those persons holding themselves out as Executive Members of the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB).

An article appearing in some of the dailies of October 28, 2011 suggested that Mr Clive Lloyd was co-opted as a member of the GCB.  Mr Lloyd must know that the GCB Executive was illegally installed through fraudulent elections held on July 10, 2011 and therefore has no legal or moral authority to co-opt anyone.  Also, there is no provision in the constitution of the GCB for this to be done.

I do believe that Mr Lloyd is allowing himself to be used to give a semblance of credibility to the GCB Executive.

Mr Lloyd must ensure that his very good reputation and character do not suffer any injury through association with this illegal group.  Mr Lloyd risks embarrassment as the Government of Guyana has signalled its intention to install an Interim Management Committee in keeping with the ruling of Chief Justice Ian Chang.
The GCB Executive is trying to desperately but in vain to legitimize itself.

Yours faithfully,
Fidel A Walton
