Reference is made to Prime News of November 16 and more particularly the item dealing with President’s College, in which news report it was alleged that David de Groot had said that he was appointed Chairman of the Board by Cabinet.
If Mr de Groot did say that, then he is guilty of a terminological inexactitude. The truth is that the chairmen of all Boards of those public schools gazetted to be administered by a Board of Governors are appointed by the Minister of Education acting under Section 3(6) of the PC Act 11 of 1990.
Editor, the Minister appoints and disappoints.
