Mr Sultan Mohamed is perturbed that I referred to the PPP/C as a cult. (‘Something is wrong if people cannot make independent choices…‘ SN, November 29). But a cult functions within its own perception of morals and principles, and gathers support from kindred spirits. During the 2011 elections vulgarity came from Lumumba, McCoy, Edgill and others of the PPP/C; it was PPP ministers who kicked the code of conduct aside.
As a member of ACDA I do share a concern for the welfare of the Afro-Guyanese collective, but I shall again state as I’ve done before that there is no African philosophy that cultivates racism. Thus Mr Mohamed’s conclusion that my disdain for the culture of the PPP and appreciation for APNU is due to some innate ethnic value system is erroneous. APNU is a dynamic multi-ethnic movement into the future; unquestionably it has some of the best minds across our ethnic spheres.
