For more than two days pensioners told there was not money at post office to pay pensions

Dear Editor,

The situation referred to below should not be allowed unless we have a failed state.

A pensioner went to the Reliance Post Office to uplift his pension at about 3 pm on Monday, December 5, 2011, and was told by the Post Master to return the following day as there was no money.

He returned the following day at about 2.30 pm and was again told to return the following day as there was no money. He returned at 10.45 am on Wednesday, December 7, and was told to check back after lunch as there was no money. Others were discomforted too.

What awful inconvenience and loss. Can someone in authority explain this outrageous situation and ensure it does not recur.

What a pity for the pensioners who seem comfortable as they, their children and grandchildren rejected the AFC promise to almost double pensions if elected.

Yours faithfully,
M Sookraj
