A number of key matches will highlight the opening round of the Stag Beer and El Dorado Rum male and female softball tournament.The eagerly-awaited tournament gets underway in
the Demerara and Berbice zones from varying time and at various venues.
The tournament is being sponsored by Demerara Distillers Ltd. (DDL) and beverage giants Ansa McAl will be contested on a round robin basis in the one female and three male cetegories.This competition will also be used as a yardstick to select the representatives teams for the Mike’s Pharmacy Inter-County tournament to be held later this year.
Also, the four teams reaching the semi-finals in the Male Open and the Male O-40 competitions will qualify for the Guyana Cup 2011 to be held in October while the top eight female teams will play in a separate tournament alongside the Guyana Cup.
The competitions are run and organized by the Guyana Floodlight Softball Cricket Association (GFSCA) in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture Youth and Sports.
