Chattergoon follows Deonarine out of squad with injury

GEORGETOWN, Guyana, CMC – Former Young West Indies captain Steven Jacobs has been called up to replace injured batsman Sewnarine Chattergoon for next week’s opening game of the Regional First Class Championship against Jamaica.

Chattergoon, who played four Tests in 2008, was forced to pull out of the 13-man squad after failing to recover in time from a shin injury.

It is the second injury blow for Guyana in days after another Test batsman, Narsingh Deonarine withdrew from the squad with a shoulder injury. He has since been replaced by Vishaul Singh.

The two withdrawals are significant setbacks for Guyana who are already without the veteran Test pair of Ramnaresh Sarwan and Shiv Chanderpaul due to their World Cup commitments.

Guyana, who finished last in the points table last year, will be led by Assad Fudadin for the first assignment which runs from February 4-7.
