Mashramani Basketball Competition…

Plaisance Secondary School put forth a terrific performance against Queen’s College to make it into the semi-final round of the St. Stanislaus College organized United Insurance Inc. Mashramani Inter School Basketball Competition.

Yesterday, the St. Stanislaus hard court witnessed Plaisance’s Nikkoli Smith put on the best display of basketball since the tournament’s commencement.
He scored a mammoth 40 points in Plaisance’s victory as they sank Queen’s College 81 – 37.

Smith’s performance was backed with a good 21-point performance from Wesley Ford and Irvin Nurse who also scored 16.

Rajendra Singh scored 18 points for Queen’s College’s and his team mate Akil Clarke also made it into double figures but it was not enough to even trouble Plaisance who steamrolled them in both halves.

Plaisance will meet Saints Stanislaus College in tomorrow’s semi-final.

The hosts defeated School of the Nations (SON) 52 – 48 in their quarterfinal match up.

Neil Gordon, Kevin Higgins and Darrol Williams led St. Stanislaus with scores of 17, 16 and 14 respectively against the solo scorer from SON, Dino Chow-Wee-Nam who top scored with a fighting 24 points.

The other semi-final to be contested tomorrow is the Marian Academy/President’s College showdown.

Marian Academy trounced Guyana Education Trust College (GETC) 37 – 19 in their quarter-final matchup. Dominique Vincente scored 15 points for GETC but received very little support from his team mates. Marian on the other hand had a good all round performance from their members to make light work of the opposition.

President’s College was the other team to enter the semi-final after they trounced Charlestown Secondary School 53 – 40. Devon Warren and Nyamebekyere Bacchus scored 20 and 18 points respectively to help President’s College get past Charlestown whose top scorers were Mortland Ward and Kaya Dover with 18 points each.
