Mash cycle race rolls off tomorrow in Berbice

In observance of tomorrow’s Mashramani celebrations in New Amsterdam, Berbice the Flying Ace Cycling Club of New Amsterdam will roll off a 45-mile cycle road race.

The race is being coordinated by coach of the Flying Ace Cycling Club, Randolph Roberts and is open to cyclists from Berbice only, including members of the  club.

The event is scheduled to pedal off at 08:30 hrs from the Marks Bridge at Lot 60 Stanleytown, proceed to the gas station at Bush Lot Village on the Corentyne before returning to Main and Alexander Streets in New Amsterdam for the finish.

The cyclists will compete in three categories: Open, Beginners and Females. The cyclists in the beginners and females categories will turn back at Tain, Corentyne covering a distance of 30 miles.

There are eight prime prizes up for grabs and other prizes will be available for the first six finishers in the open category, the first five beginners and the first female to cross the finishing line.

 Regional Chairman Zulfikar Mustapha is expected to start the race and be on hand to assist with the distribution of prizes at the end of the event.
