A new body headed by newly-elected president Lethem Wilson was chosen to carry out the administrative functions of the Linden Table Tennis Association (LTTA) following a meeting on Monday at the Senior Supervisors’ Club in Linden.

Wilson will have as his vice-president Howard James with Joe Chapman as secretary, while Robert Langevine was elected treasurer, Christian Sampson, assistant secretary/treasurer, Judy Gravesande-Noel, Public Relations Officer and her assistant is Raynor Anderson.

The LTTA has already begun a training programme for selected schools and coaches. These recently-launched clinics are under the direction of Anderson and James. The re-launching of the LTTA is part of the countrywide initiative by president of the Guyana Table Tennis Association (GTTA) Henry Greene, who has advocated the formation of table tennis associations around the country to help promote the sport.

To boost this initiative Commander of the E and F Division, Assistant Commissioner of Police David Ramnarine and two Linden businessmen, Beresford Harry and Dunstan Barrow, have bought tables which will be used for the training programmes.

Anderson will be conducting clinics between 2.15pm and 4.15pm on Mondays at the Linden Technical Institute (Trade School), Tuesdays at the Multilateral School (Christiansburg Secondary School), Wednesdays at  School of Excellence, Thursdays at Mackenzie High School and Fridays at Scouts at the Senior Supervisors’ Club.

Meanwhile, James’ clinics will be from 2.15pm to 4.15pm on Wednesdays at Linden Foundation Secondary, Thursdays at New Silver City Secondary School and Fridays at Beresford Hall (Wismar).

There will also be weekend clinics at the Linmine Constabulary Hall on March 6 and 13.
