For the light heavyweight title of Guyana when the monthly Friday Night Fight card of the Guyana Boxing Board of Control continues.
Last September Jones scored the biggest win of his fledgling career when he scored a unanimous decision over the former world rated Eastman in the monthly ProAm card the brainchild of Peter Abdool.

Jones and Fraser will battle over 12 rounds with the national title belt at stake.
The upcoming Fight Night Card will feature three other bouts with Edmond Declou coming up against Eversley Ian Brown, Cassius Matthews opposing Simeon Hardy and Sharon Warde taking on Veronica Blackman.

While the boxers signed their contracts Stabroek Sport questioned Jones on his plans for the fight and he had this to say:”The fans will see something different from Kwesi Jones because from last year the rounds were short and in this fight in every round I will be adapting and will be showing skill and power,” Jones stated.

World ranked boxer Veronica Blackman with a record of four wins and six losses will also be in action as she looks to reclaim her ranking after losing to Mandessa Moses last month.

“I’m training more hard to improve myself in the game and I will do a better fight and whatever it takes to win my fight,” she declared.
Blackman lost on points to Moses last month in their heavyweight clash at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.
Moses has a respectable record of five wins and one defeat.

`Classy’ Matthews will look to shake off some rust after a seven year absence.
Matthews, who has won three fights, lost four and drawn two, told reporters yesterday that his last bout was in 2004 against Vincent Howard when the two battled to a draw.

His opponent holds the record for the fastest knockout (20s in the four round format.
“My fans haven’t seen a lot of me lately because my first fight ended quickly and in the second, I broke my hand in three different places, I know Matthews is rusty but I respect him for turning up because a lot of guys have been reporting sick and not turning up but I’m definitely going out there to win,” Hardy stated.

When asked by Stabroek Sport to respond to Hardy’s comments Matthews said…“I never sign and don’t show up but my rustiness will not affect me, I’m not certain about a knockout but I’m going out to win.”
Fight time is 8pm.
