Three-man judo squad cops silver and bronze in Dominican Republic

The Judo Association of Guyana (JAG) sent a three-man squad to the Dominican Republic to compete in the Senior Caribbean Judo Championships last Saturday and each of them did Guyana proud.

Raoul Archer gained a silver medal in the under 90 kilogrammes division while Edward DeLima and Raul Lall each gained a bronze medal in the under 100 kilogrammes and under 66 kilogrammes divisions respectively.

Vice-President of the JAG, Geoffrey Sankies, described Lall’s performance as “creditable and commendable.”
He noted that the bronze medalist should have competed in the under 60 kilogrammes category instead of the under 66 kilogrammes.

Sankies told Stabroek Sport via telephone that “these games are one of the qualifiers for the Pan American games in Mexico, but we will have to find out the position of the guys.”

Efforts by Stabroek Sport to contact the medalists proved futile.
The 16th edition of the Pan American games will be contested in Guadalajara, Mexico in October this year.
