Nearly 100 horses to run in $7M Triple Crown Classic today at Alness

Close to 100 horses will compete in the Ryan Crawford Memorial Turf Club and Sports Facilities (RCMTC&SF) and Ansa Mc Al Trading Guyana Limited Triple Crown Classic horse race meet today at the club’s track at Alness, Corentyne, Berbice.

Additionally, $7 million is up for the taking with respective winners and other outstanding performers trying to cash in on one of the largest horse race meets for the year so far.

Ansa Mc Al has sponsored the feature B class event, which has seen 13 horses entering for the lucrative $1M first prize and trophy.

Some of the front runners for the event are The Message and Champtress, fresh off a victory in the pre-Caricom horse race meet at Port Mourant last week; Night Crescendo; Dubai Duchess; Miss Republic; On the Rock with Salt; Miss Orientate; Zelik; Pinch D Cash and Delmur Gold. The new arrivals, Donut Prince, The Exporter and Grand De Roja will battle over a distance of 1600m.

Irish Girl is the pre-race favourite for the three-year-olds West Indian bred horses but she will have to get past Work Force, Swing Easy, Gold Plated, Bridal Stone Corner, Face D Fire, Captain Cook, Peace and Love, Celebration Love and Technology. The winner will take away $500,000 for the 1600m event.

The F and Lower sprint event has a first prize of $500,000 and will see Momzele, The Gap, Dubai Duchess, Got to Go, Pinch the Cash, Pegasus Rising and Miracle Run galloping over 1200m.

Times have Change, Wind The Wall, Red Closed, Rosetta, Serenity and Feels Like Gold are among the entrants for the two-year-old West Indian bred horses vying for a winning purse of $450,000 over 1100m.

The Guyana bred three-year-olds Wicked Intention, Super Cat, Speed Vision, Apostle, JD Junior, Prince Renukha, Ro Baby and Silent Night will compete for the top bacon of $400,000 in the 1600m event. The two-year-old Guyana bred horses Zoom Zoom, Third World, Cat and Cheese, Little Tip Top, Watch My Shadow, New Time, Mind That Bird, Having a Nice Time, Killer Bee, JD Ann and Sonia Door will also be competing for $400,000 but over a distance of 950m.

In the G and Lower category there is also a $400,000 prize and the horses will run 1600m. Celebration Time, Pixie Fire, The Gap and Sir Balajie are the front runners going into today’s meet but will face stern tests from Air Control, The Bailiff, Ginger Bread, Prado’s Gold, South Sea, Bio Fuel and Pegasus Rising.

Dream Girl and Five Star General will complete the star-studded H and Lower event which also includes Royal Champion, De Gump, Diplomat, Johnny Roger, Funny Sided and Zebra. The distance is 1600m and the first prize is $300,000.

The I Class has the largest lineup which features Ravi B, Speed Vision, Royal Time, Infinity, Try Again, JD Junior, Extra Heat, Savion, Mona Lisa, Nobody Knows, Channel Boy, Sun Razor and Black Beauty and the top prize is $180,000 while the distance is 1400m.

The  JK&L (Divisions 1, 2 and 3) Classes will round out the day’s roster with Silver Kid, Royal Intention, Great Prospect, War Time El Gato, Go Find One, Find U Money, Baya and No Surprises competing over 1400m. The winning purse is $150,000.

The top jockey, trainer and stable will be presented with accolades, compliments of the Trophy Stall, Bourda Market, and the Ryan Crawford Memorial Turf Club.
