Over 100 horses to vie for $10M plus in Digicel Classic tomorrow

Over 100 horses have been registered for the Digicel Horse Race Classic at the Norman Singh Memorial Turf Club tomorrow at Bel Air No. 6, West Coast, Berbice.

The event which is exclusively sponsored by Digicel will see prize monies exceeding $10M and is considered one of the biggest meets for the year.

Race time is 12:00 hours and the country’s top horses have already taken entry for the feature B Class race, which has a winning prize of $1.2M and trophy over a distance of 1600m.

The roster at this time reads: Zelik, The Message, Champtress, Dubai Duchess, Night Crescendo, Fairy Landing, Stormy Flame, Grand De Roja, Donut Prince, Marathon Man, Gullium, Wad a Luck, Mr. Gold Finger, and Sir Balajee.

Face D Fire, Irish Girl, Work Force, Swing Easy, Gold Plated, Bridal Stone Corner, Northern Dancer, Captain Cook, Peace and Love, Weekend Surprise, Celebration Love and Sweet Miss are all in contention for the top money of $600,000 in the Three-year-old race for West Indian bred horses.

For the F and Lower race Dubai Duchess, The Bailiff, Momzele, the Gap, Appealing Harvest, Sir Balajee, Prospector’s Pride, King Maker, Stormy Deal and 18 Carat will battle for the $500,000 top prize.

Red Cloud, Times have Change, Windy War, Happy Choice, Serenity, Pride and Joy, Settle In Seattle, Princess Haya, Hidden Reflection and Feels Like Gold are among the entries in the race for the Two-year-old West Indian bred horses, with the winner’s purse being $450,000 over 1100m.

The G and lower horses also have a first prize of $400,000. The distance is 1400m. Those entered to take part are Top of The Line, Maya, Zelona, Miracle Run, Gabriel’s Gold, Stormy Lass, South Sea, Five Star General, Stormy Deal, Sir Balajie, and Pegasus Rising.

Among those entered for the Guyana-bred Three-year-old event are Prince Renukha, Wicked Intention, Super Cat, Apostle and J.D Junior, for the $250,000 winner’s money over 1400M.

The I-1  event has such horses as Infinity,  Extra Heat, Savion, Monalisa 2, No Body Knows, Romeo and The Lion running for the $180,000 top prize over 1200M.

There are also races for the I3 horses; JK&L horses and one for animals that  never started nor placed in an event.

Outstanding individual performers including top jockey, trainer and stable will be presented with accolades, compliments of Ramesh Sunich of the Trophy Stall, Bourda Market.
