Out-of-favour Benn joins Pitbulls for Masters Cup

GEORGETOWN, Guyana, CMC – Discarded West Indies left-arm spinner Sulieman Benn has been named in the Georgetown Pitbulls squad for next month’s Jam Zone Masters Cup Twenty20 tournament.

He will join the side led by West Indies stroke-maker Ramnaresh Sarwan and which also includes Trinidadians Keiron Pollard and Navin Stuart, along with Jamaican left-arm pacer Krishmar Santokie.

The tournament is scheduled for the Guyana National Stadium from August 12-14.
The 30-year-old Benn was West Indies’ frontline spinner up until the World Cup earlier this year before falling out of favour with regional selectors.

He was overlooked for the home tours against Pakistan and India with chief selector Clyde Butts pointing to indiscipline as the reason.

Benn has continued to play domestic cricket in Barbados for Division One club Spartan.
The tournament will feature an array of regional stars including the pugnacious Chris Gayle, energetic West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo, and rookie all-rounder Andre Russell.
