Dyna’s Bravados disqualified from Kares10/10 competition

The stage is set for the grand finale of the inaugural Kares Engineering/Bushy Park Sawmill 10/10 Tapeball tournament tomorrow at the Guyana National Stadium, Providence.

However, Dyna’s Bravados, one of the four semi-finalists in the male category, will not be competing as they have been disqualified by the Guyana Softball League (GSL).

The GSL claimed that the team played an unregistered player in their quarter-final encounter against Cotton Tree Die Hard at the Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) ground, Bourda.

Therefore, Invaders, who were slated to take on Dyna’s Bravados in the semi-final tomorrow, have drawn a bye to the final. The other semi-finalists are the Georgetown Pitbulls and the Albion Community Centre teams.

According to a source, Dyna’s Bravados will be seeking legal advice on the matter. Efforts to contact the GSL to establish what transpired last Saturday were futile yesterday.

That apart, Mike’s Wellwoman and 4R Lionesses will clash in one female semifinal while the other will see Rose Hall Town Metro against Trophy Stall XI. The winners of those games will battle in the final for the top prize of $500,000 and a trophy.

In the preceding matches of the male and female semifinals the school finals for both male and female categories will be played. J. C. Chandisingh Secondary whose lineup includes Loyydel Lewis and Shailendra Shameer will challenge St. Roses High in the schoolboys final.

On the girls side L’Adventure Secondary School of West Bank Demerara and IPE Divas XI from East Coast Demerara are expected to put on a good show with the respective school winners pocketing $200,000 each to be used for a school project.

Meanwhile, a grand concert headlined by Jamaica’s Grammy Award winning artiste Shaggy and featuring Rikki Jai and Hunter from Trinidad and Tobago, Peter Ram from Barbados and Guyana’s Mahendra Ramkellawan, will bring the curtain down on the two-month competition.
