Local referees participated in FIFA Fitness Test

Local referees vying for a place on the 2012 FIFA  international list and those desirous of competing nationally yesterday took  part in the third FIFA mandated Fitness Test for 2011 at the Police Sports Club ground, Eve Leary.

Approximately 55 referees and assistant referees drawn from Georgetown, Linden, Berbice, Bartica, East Coast Demerara and West Demerara participated in the Test organized by the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) in collaboration with the Guyana Football Referees Council (GFRC).

The match officials participated in the following categories FIFA referees (male and female), FIFA assistant referees  (male and female) and national referees and assistant referees.

This is the third Test held this year with the first taking place in March and the second in June.

The programme was supervised by National Referees coordinator Roy McArthur, Football fitness instructors Lindley Langhorne and Anson Ambrose.

Meanwhile, a Beginners Referees Course which started yesterday will conclude today with participants from around the country attending.

The Course being coordinated by Mc Arthur with assistance from Ambrose is being held at the Carifesta Sports Complex.

Starting time of today will be 09:00 hours.
