Unstoppable Flying Object grabs $50,000 top prize and trophy

Flying Object was unstoppable on Sunday when Bush Lot United Turf Club came alive for its one-day horse meet at the club’s track at Bush Lot, West Coast, Berbice.

Significantly, it was the first time in over five years that the facility was being used for a horse race meet. The six-race meet was held to raise funds for the resuscitation of the track at the West Berbice facility.

Compton Sancho of the Bush Lot Turf Club presented the winning I Class trophy to Joan Woodroffe after Flying Object’s victory. Owner Whitney Isaacs (right) and trainer Leary Robinson (stooping) also shared the moment.

Running in the I Class and mounted by Desmond Jetoo, Flying Object, of the Whitney Isaacs Stable, Hope Town, West Coast Berbice, broke away from the rest of the field at the midway point to take the $50,000 top prize and trophy. Natural Mystic, Black Tricks and Oh So Sharp finished second, third and fourth respectively. The J Class five-furlong race was taken by New Moon, ahead of Billy the Kid and Pleasant Surprise. The race’s top prize was $40,000 and a trophy.

On the other hand, Mc Gyver of the Gibson Stable was the winner of the K Class race to defeat the likes of Mr. Cool and School Boy for the $15,000 top prize and trophy.  Other winners for the day were Black Gold, School Boy and Black Master while Jetoo was adjudged the champion jockey, racking up four wins. He received a trophy, compliments of the organizers.
