Bramble is first centurion this year in Tenelec 50-over competition

Berbice wicketkeeper/batsman Anthony Bramble became the first centurion of this year’s Tenelec First Division 50-over competition, slamming 114 for Skeldon Community Centre against Blairmont Community Centre.

His knock which included 12 fours and a six helped Skeldon pass the 200-run mark for the first time this season. After Skeldon had slipped to 20-3, Bramble and Jermaine Reid (40) put on 106 for the fourth wicket to take their team to 206.

When Blairmont Community Centre replied they were up to the task after contributions from Altaf Khan (51*) and Deveshwari Prashad (42), winning by four wickets and six overs to spare.

Meanwhile, national all-rounder Steven Jacobs turned out for his Berbice club team, Memorex Bermine, for the first time and stamped his authority with his offspin  when he picked up four consecutive Port Mourant Karibee Rice wickets. The team was reeling on 47-3, while national Under-19 all-rounder Joemal La Fleur took the first three.

The team was precariously poised at 57-7 before they were bundled out for 96. Memorex’s opening batsman Keion De Jesus then stroked an unbeaten 44 to steer his team to a nine-wicket victory.

Rose Hall Town Gizmos & Gadgets amassed an imposing 280-6 against Young Warriors with former Berbice Under-19 all-rounder Khemraj Mahadeo hitting 67 (3×4, 4×6), his fourth consecutive half century for the season. He was supported by national Under-19 batsman Dominic Rikhi (50) and former Berbice Under-19 all-rounder Eon Hooper (42).

Hooper then returned to capture 4-24 with his offspin as Rose Hall restricted Young Warriors to 210 all out. National batsman Richard Ramdeen top scored with 50 (3×4, 1×6).

Edinburgh registered an easy seven-wicket victory over West Berbice.
Meanwhile, the match between Police B and Albion Community Centre was postponed at the request of Police owing to ranks being engaged in extra duties over the weekend.
