Cyclists win at IGG

-Mohammed says team did Guyana proud

Day three (Saturday) seemed to be the best day for Guyana since the start of the Inter Guiana Games last Thursday as Guyana did well in the cycling aspect of the 2011 edition of the games currently underway in Suriname.

The male Guyana team which comprised Neil Reece, Paul De Nobrega, Michael Anthony and Raynauth Jeffrey raced well to win the team time trials while the two females Naomi Singh and Marica Dick were second and third respectively in the female individual time trials.

Manager of the team, Hassam Mohammed, stated that the team did well and he was proud of what they did since they accomplished a feat the Dream team couldn’t in 2009.

He also noted that the win gave the riders a boost in confidence ahead of yesterday’s road race.

On another note, the female volleyball team was trounced Friday evening losing to Suriname in three straight sets at 10-25, 9-25 and 19-25.
