Inter-block football group winners for prizes today

Various group winners in the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport 7:15 inter-block football competition will be presented with their prizes today at the ministry’s office on  Main Street.

Two Friends, who defeated Ann’s Grove Seniors 3-1 to capture one East Coast zone title, will receive $50,000 while Round da Road who defeated Hilltop 2-1 on penalties are Timehri zone winners.

In the East Coast final Kevon ‘Sacki’ Barry scored in the 5th and 23rd minutes and Carlton Jerrick netted in the 20th minute. Andy Higgins and Dellon Johnson were the goal scorers in the Timehri zone final.

In the East Coast zone, Ann’s Grove seniors reached the final after they beat Ann’s Grove Kraft 1-0 with Charles Gevon scoring in the 20th minute.
Two Friends routed Punters 4-0 with Barry finding the back of the net twice in the 10th and 25th minutes. He got support from Oswald ‘Boil Corn’ Duke (18th and 28th).

In other results: Beterverwagting – Block B, Backdam (5) defeated Block B (3) on penalty after both teams played to a two-all draw at the end of regulation time. Block A (3) held up Sideline Dam (2) on penalties after both teams played to a two-all draw after regulation time.

At Kuru-Kuru – Lucky 7 defeated Frontline Strikes 1-0; Show Ideals (2) beat Backstreet Boys (1); Show Ideals (3) beat Lucky 7 (1)
Soesdyke – Two teams participated in this community. Soesdyke North defeated Soesdyke South 2-0 and the goal Scorers were Dameon Tilbury and Colin Holder.

Grove – Grove Back Street defeated Diamond United 2-1, with goals coming from, for Backstreet, Shermon Doris and John Matthews, while Devon Watson scored the consolation goal for Diamond; Grove North gained a walk over from Somatta Point; Grove Backstreet defeated Grove North 3-0 with John Matthews, Shermon Doris and Orwin Hunte scoring.

Meanwhile, the competition heats up in Georgetown on Sunday while West Coast Berbice will begin its programme tomorrow.
