Ramdin takes over from Ganga as T&T captain

PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad, CMC – West Indies second choice wicketkeeper Denesh Ramdin will lead Trinidad and Tobago in the upcoming first class season.

His appointment follows the departure of the long-serving Daren Ganga who quit the post unexpectedly last week.

The 26-year-old Ramdin served as Ganga’s understudy and has led the West Indies in one One-Day International and three Twenty20 Internationals.

He has been viewed as future West Indies captain but his poor all-round form saw him dropped from the regional side last June. He remained sidelined until recently when he was surprisingly called up to the one-day tour of Bangladesh.

Ramdin, who has played 42 Tests and 84 One-Day Internationals since making his debut in 2005, is currently on the Test tour of India.
