Lambert disappointed by omission

KINGSTON, Jamaica, CMC – Tamar Lambert said he harboured no hard feelings following his shocking omission from Jamaica’s 14-member squad for the Caribbean Twenty20 Championship next month. Lambert was omitted from the squad named earlier this month, being relegated to the reserve bench, although playing a critical role in Jamaica lifting the Regional Super50 title last October in Guyana. It’s the second time in the history of the competition that the chunky Lambert has missed out on the T20 side. “I’m disappointed that I didn’t get selected, but the selectors made their decision and I have to look to the future,” he told Radio Jamaica in an interview.

“We still have the Regional 4-Day tournament which (will come up) after the CT20, so that’s something I have to look forward to. Once selected, I can go out there and show the Jamaican people what I can do again.”

Lambert has been Jamaica’s most successful captain in the four-day format of the game, leading the island to four straight titles between 2008 and this year.

Ironically, he led his club St. Catherine to the national T20 title last weekend.

All-rounder Dave Bernard Jr will lead the Jamaicans into battle in Group-B of the CT20 against the Combined Campuses & Colleges, ICC Associate side Netherlands, English county side Sussex Sharks, and co-hosts Barbados. They open the tournament against the CCC on January 10 at the Vivian Richards Cricket Ground in Antigua.
