League fines Nets coach Johnson $25,000 for improper conduct

NEW YORK, (Reuters) – New Jersey Nets head coach Avery Johnson has been fined $25,000  for improper conduct towards an official during a game against the Philadelphia 76ers, the NBA  said yesterday.

Johnson was ejected from Wednesday’s game with 7:47 remaining in the third quarter after  being given two technical fouls.

He had argued with official Brent Barnaky over the lack of a foul call after Elton Brand  had tried to strip the ball from Nets guard Devin Harris.
However subsequent television replays indicated that Brand had missed the ball.

The Nets lost the game 106-92 at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey
